Interior Health still tops in B.C. for new COVID cases
Interior Health (IH) continues to lead B.C. in new COVID-19 cases.
The health region had 395 new cases between Saturday and Tuesday (four days), or an average of 99 per day.
IH now has 847 active cases, more than half of the 1,544 active cases in the province.
Provincially, there were 742 new infections with the breakdown as follows:
* Saturday, July 31: 160 new cases
* Sunday, Aug. 1: 196 new cases
* Monday, Aug. 2: 185 new cases
* Tuesday Aug. 3: 201 new cases
New restrictions were implemented on the Central Okanagan July 28 after a COVID outbreak was declared.
There are 53 people in hospital and 19 in intensive care.
Since Friday, there has been one new death in the Vancouver Coastal Health region for an overall total of 1,772.
Over 6.9 million Covid vaccines have been administered in B.C. As of Aug. 3, 81.4 per cent of eligible people 12 and older have had one dose and 67.3 per cent (3,121,311) have received two doses.
The new/active cases include:
* 165 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 348
* 115 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 212
* 395 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 847
* 24 new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 43
* 42 new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 85
* one new case of a person who resides outside of Canada
* Total active cases: nine
