More Covid Restrictions
More restrictions are being implemented in the Central Okanagan as the number of coronavirus cases continue to rise more than anywhere else in BC.
80 percent of new cases of Covid 19 around here are of the Delta strain and the vast majority are in unvaccinated people between 20 and 40 at social gatherings.
So, for Central Okanagan, outdoor personal gatherings limited to 50 people. Indoor is again limited to 5 guests or 1 other household. Organized indoor seated gatherings and outdoor gatherings are limited to 50 people with a covid safety plan in place.
Nightclubs and bars are closed again effective today.
Restaurants go back to groups of up to 6 people at a table and liquor serving ends at 10pm.
Casinos can stay open but must comply with restaurant guidance.
Indoor low intensity fitness with capacity limits can continue, while high intensity group activity is suspended.
Vacation rentals, including houses and houseboats are limited to 5 guests plus the occupants.
Mask mandate continues for all public indoor places and unvaccinated people should not attend gatherings.
Those hosting gatherings should keep track of guests and should self monitor.
People are also advised to avoid non-essential travel to and from the Central Okanagan.
Dr. Bonnie Henry wrapped up her Friday news conference telling anyone who has not been vaccinated, to get it done.
