Interior Health records 187 new COVID-19 cases

Interior Health is still home to a majority of COVID-19 cases in the province as 187 new cases were recorded in the health region on Tuesday, August 10.

The new cases made up 47.3 per cent of the 395 new cases identified in British Columbia on Tuesday.

The new cases bring Interior Health’s active COVID-19 case count up to 1,893, or 57.6 per cent, of the 3,284 cases active throughout the province.

There are currently 68 individuals in hospital due to COVID-19 in B.C., 20 of whom are in critical care. Of those hospitalizations, 27 of them, including 10 critical care patients, are located in the Interior Health region.

There have been no new COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, keeping the provincial COVID-19 death toll at 1,777.

There have been no changes to the outbreak sites in the province, including with the Nelson Jubilee Manor, Kootenay Street Village, Cottonwoods Care Centre or the Brookhaven Care Centre, which are all located in the Interior Health region.

According to the provincial government, 82.1 per cent of eligible British Columbians aged 12 and over have now received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 70.6 per cent of the eligible population are fully inoculated with two jabs.
