COVID-19 cases still rising in Interior Health
B.C. saw a slight decrease in new COVID-19 cases Thursday.
The Health Ministry reported 513 cases, down from the 536 on Wednesday.
However, new cases in Interior Health (IH) increased by 13 to 271.
There are now 2,199 active cases in the IH region, with Fraser Health the next highest at 750.
Provincially, there are 3,834 active cases with 81 people in hospital and 33 in intensive care.
In the past 24 hours, there has been one new COVID-related death, which was in Interior Health, for an overall total of 1,779.
There are eight active outbreaks in long-term care: Holyrood Manor, Kin Village West Court, Evergreen Baptist Care Society (Fraser Health), Nelson Jubilee Manor, Kootenay Street Village, Cottonwoods Care Centre, Brookhaven Care Centre (Interior Health) and Discovery Harbour (Island Health).
More than 7.1 million COVID vaccine doses have gone into arms, with 82.3 per cent of eligible people 12 and older getting their first dose and 71.6 per cent fully vaccinated.
The province is making it mandatory for all health-care workers, volunteers and personal care workers at care homes to be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 by Oct. 12, 2021.

Outbreaks in Interior Health:
· Nelson Jubilee Manor has four cases: one resident and three staff, with one death connected to the outbreak.
· Kootenay Street Village in Cranbrook has three cases: one resident and two staff.
· Brookhaven Care Centre in West Kelowna has 23 cases: five residents and 18 staff.
· Cottonwoods Care Centre long-term care in Kelowna has 12 cases: eight residents and four staff.
· David Lloyd Jones long-term care in Kelowna has three cases: two residents and one staff.
· Hawthorn Park assisted/independent living in Kelowna has four cases: one resident and three staff.
· Village at Mill Creek long-term care in Kelowna has two cases: one resident and one staff.
