Regional Parks reopen in Central Okanagan
As the Mt. Law wildfire has been mainly contained and the evacuation orders were downgraded to alerts this week, the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) is reopening a number of parks in the area.
The Lower Glen Canyon Regional Park, the Gellatly Heritage Regional Park and the Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park have all been reopened for public use.
However, as the fire does still pose a risk, there are some parks that are still not considered safe for reopening.
Until further notice, the Trepanier Creek Greenway Regional Park, Coldham Regional Park, Goats Peak Regional Park and Upper Glen Canyon Regional Park all remain closed.
The RDCO reminds visitors that smoking, open flames and campfires are not permitted in regional parks. Additionally , as the fire danger is still very high in the region, operating a barbecue of any kind is not allowed.
