COVID-19 update Tuesday: 641 new cases
New COVID-19 cases are showing no signs of slowing down in British Columbia.
B.C.’s Health Ministry reported 641 new infections on Tuesday, up from the 442 on Monday and the 545 reported on Sunday.
Interior Health had 273 new cases, which is 42.5 per cent of the provincial total, with more than 2,000 total active cases in the health region.
The numbers came on the day that masks were made mandatory again in all indoor public places for residents 12 and older, starting Wednesday.
The province said from Aug. 9 to 22, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 83.4 per cent of cases and 85.6 per cent of hospitalizations. Fully vaccinated people accounted for 16.6 per cent of the new cases and 14.4 per cent of the hospitalizations over that same period.
There have been no new COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours.
More than 7.3 million COVID vaccine doses have been discharged, with 83.3 per cent of eligible people 12 and older getting one dose and 75.1 per cent with two doses.
There have been no new healthcare facility outbreaks, with 12 active outbreaks.

· Nelson Jubilee Manor has five cases: two residents and three staff, with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Kootenay Street Village in Cranbrook has three cases: one resident and two staff.
· Brookhaven Care Centre in West Kelowna has 30 cases: 10 residents and 20 staff, with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Cottonwoods Care Centre long-term care in Kelowna has 27 cases: 17 residents and 10 staff, with three deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Hawthorn Park assisted/independent living in Kelowna has five cases: one resident and four staff.
· David Lloyd Jones long-term care in Kelowna has 49 cases: 38 residents and 11 staff, with three deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Village at Mill Creek assisted living/independent living in Kelowna has three cases: two residents and one staff.
· Nicola Meadows assisted living/independent living in Merritt has seven cases: four residents and three staff, with one death connected to the outbreak.
· Hardy View Lodge long-term care in Grand Forks has two cases: one resident and one staff.
