The University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) will host on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinics between August 30 and September 17 for students, staff and faculty to get their shots.

“We know the safety of our campuses increases when people are vaccinated,” said Anne Kang, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training.

“These on-campus clinics make it easy and convenient to get the vaccine. Make the choice to protect your community and play an active role in ensuring a safe return to school this fall.”

The clinics will be run by Interior Health, and allow people to walk up, register, and receive either their first or second doses of the vaccine. Those looking to get their second shot will only be eligible 28 days after getting the first dose.

“The health of our students, faculty and staff is a priority for all of us,” said Phil Barker, vice-principal of research and innovation at UBC Okanagan.

“That’s why, in partnership with UBC Okanagan, Interior Health is offering drop-in COVID-19 immunization clinics on campus this fall. UBCO encourages members of our community to protect themselves and everyone around them by getting vaccinated.”

The clinics will be held at the UBCO campus on:

  • Monday, Aug. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Nechako Open Mezzanine
  • Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Administration Building Foyer
  • Friday, Sept. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Administration Building Foyer

UBCO students can also receive shots between Aug. 30 and Sept 7 at Trinity Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The clinic will also be open Thursday, Sept 2 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Interior Health also reminds people that vaccinations can be received at a number of pop-up or vaccination clinics which are listed on its website.
