Evacuation Alerts rescinded for Mt. Law wildfire

Sep 3, 2021 | 1:10 PM Liam Verster

All Evacuation Alerts have been lifted for the Mt. Law wildfire in West Kelowna, as the fire is now considered as being held.

The Central Okanagan Emergency Operations (COEO) warns that smoke may be visible as there is still some active fire within the perimeter, but these are normal occurrences as fuels continue to burn in hot spots.

Fire suppression activities continue as crews work inwards from the perimeter to extinguish those hot spots.

The public is warned that even though the alerts have been lifted the area is still considered an active fire zone, and residents are asked to remain vigilant and to call 911 in the event of rapid fire growth or fire putting properties at risk.

The public is also warned that the fire could have created potential hazards such as weakened trees, unstable ground and displaced animals.
