On Saturday morning, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, the Kelowna Fire Department, RCMP, and BCAS teamed up to rescue a hiker that had fallen from a cliff above the Gillard Forest Service Road.

The hiker had fallen approximately seven meters onto a rocky area and suffered significant injuries.

Fortunately his hiking companion was able to relay his location which aided in the response.

Field teams located the subject, and all agencies collaborated to transport him safely to a waiting ambulance.

COSAR would like ot remind all backcountry users to be safe this long weekend, and follow the advice of adventuresmart.ca for a safe outing by having the Three T’s: Training, Trip Plan, and the Ten Essentials.
