Fire department seeks new members

The Ellison Fire Department is recruiting new paid on-call members.

Ellison fire is one of four paid-on-call fire departments of the Regional District of Central Okanagan which also provides medical first response and fire protection services for the Joe Rich, North Westside and Wilson’s Landing fire protection areas.

As part of the fall recruitment drive, applications are being accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, October 15 for new members.

Prospective members must live within eight kilometers of Station 61 – 4411 Old Vernon Road. As well, they must be between the ages of 19 and 65 and in good physical condition.

Potential recruits will be contacted regarding the next steps involved in joining the department. Applications and recruitment information is also available for downloading and printing on the RDCO website rdco.com/firerecruit.

Interviews and physical testing for potential candidates will take place later this fall. Training will be provided for successful applicants during the department’s regular Monday evening or weekend sessions.
