Interior Health home to 153 new COVID-19 cases

Another 153 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the Interior Tuesday, bringing the active case count for the region to 1,583.

The new cases were part of the 677 recorded across B.C., bringing the provincial active case count to 6,165.

The amount of COVID-19 hospitalizations rose Tuesday to 288, with 140 of those patients in intensive care.

One new COVID-19 death was recorded in the Northern Health jurisdiction, meaning there has now been 1,866 British Columbians who have died due to the virus.

The provincial first dose vaccination rate rose to 86 per cent Tuesday, and 78.5 per cent of British Columbians age 12 and over have received both jabs.

The health-care facility outbreaks remained flat at 24 on Tuesday as one new site in the Fraser Health region was announced but one in the Vancouver Coastal Health region was declared over. There are still 14 outbreak sites in the Interior.

  • Brookhaven Care Centre in West Kelowna has 17 cases: 10 residents and seven staff, with three deaths connected to the outbreak.
  • Cottonwoods Care Centre long-term care in Kelowna has 30 cases: 20 residents and 10 staff, with six deaths connected to the outbreak.
  • David Lloyd Jones long-term care in Kelowna has 55 cases: 41 residents and 14 staff, with seven deaths connected to the outbreak.
  • Village at Mill Creek assisted living/independent living in Kelowna has 12 cases: seven residents and three staff with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
  • Nicola Meadows assisted living/independent living in Merritt has seven cases: four residents and three staff, with one death connected to the outbreak.
  • Hardy View Lodge long-term care in Grand Forks has four cases: one resident and three staff.
  • Spring Valley Care Centre long-term care in Kelowna has 15 cases: 11 residents and four staff, with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
  • Sun Pointe Village assisted living/independent living in Kelowna has eight resident cases, with one death connected to the outbreak.
  • Rose Wood Village long-term care in Trail has two resident cases.
  • Kamloops Seniors Village long-term care has 19 cases: 10 residents and nine staff, with one death connected to the outbreak.
  • Hillside Village long-term care in Salmon Arm has eight cases: three residents and five staff.
  • The Hamlets at Westsyde long-term care in Kamloops has five cases: three residents and two staff.
  • Joseph Creek Village long-term care in Cranbrook has 14 cases: nine residents and five staff.
  • Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail has two patient cases.
