Kelowna Culture Days opens this weekend and runs all month with a full lineup of arts and cultural events to experience throughout the city. The month-long celebration will showcase Kelowna’s creative scene featuring talented local artist and performers.

Culture Days is an annual celebration of arts and culture across Canada. Starting at the end of September, millions of people attend thousands of free arts and culture events across the country. Culture Days programs include opportunities for all ages and invites the public to get hands-on to highlight the importance of arts and culture in communities.

As part of Kelowna’s Culture Days, residents and visitors can take in some local history with the Cultural District Walking Tour on Saturday mornings from September 25 – October 23, 2021. The tour follows a historical route of approximately 2 km and highlights the transformation of the Cultural District through the years. Registration takes place at the beginning of the tour starting at 10 a.m. each Saturday in front of the Kelowna Visitor Centre.

In addition to visiting Kelowna’s cultural facilities, people can also explore the new Laurel Square, a unique outdoor learning space and interactive display that was recently completed adjacent to the Laurel Packinghouse. The display, which was created in partnership with Kelowna Museums, has already become a popular spot for small gatherings and outdoor classes. The courtyard area features agricultural themes of past, present and future including an irrigation flume that children can use to direct water flow. The Laurel Square renovation project was made possible thanks to support from BC Gaming and the Okanagan Basin Water Board.

Laurel Square will also be one of the destinations for the Roving Audience Experience to help kick off Culture Days on Saturday, September 25 from 7-10 p.m. with entertainment and food trucks. The event is hosted by Rotary Centre for the Arts in partnership with Tourism Kelowna and sponsored by the Downtown Kelowna Association with additional support from Festivals Kelowna and Peak Technologies.

Visit the RCA Culture Days events page for a detailed look at local events and initiatives.
