Man arrested after woman and Good Samaritan attacked
A man is facing charges after allegedly attacking a Kelowna woman and a neighbour who came to her assistance.
RCMP responded to a 911 call on Coronation Street in Kelowna around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept 22.
Officers located an injured 66-year-old Kelowna man who said he had heard a neighbour screaming for help and when he had gone into her backyard, a man had attacked him.
“Officers immediately located the 40-year-old female victim who stated she had been in her backyard when an unknown man had attacked her, attempted to choke her, and tried to get into her house,” said Cpl Jocelyn Noseworthy.
The victim fled from the man into a nearby building but then had to flee again when he followed her. She hid in a neighbour’s yard until police arrived.
“Both victims suffered what are believed to have been non life-threatening injuries,” said Noseworthy.
The suspect, 35-year-old Brady Dolphin, was located in the area and arrested.
He has been remanded in custody, and charges of aggravated assault, assault by choking, assault with a weapon and break and enter have been approved by the BC Prosecution Service.
