Local MADD chapter to hold first fundraiser
The Central Okanagan Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has set a goal of $20,000 for its first fundraiser.
The virtual fundraiser, called Champions for MADD, will be held on October 15, 2021 at 7 p.m.. The event will feature a silent auction, live auction, musical performances, and guest speakers. Tickets are available on Trellis by way of a $5 donation to the organization.
The funds raised would be used for their chapter’s awareness and youth programs as well as to train new victim services volunteers.
“Impaired driving creates devastating effects in our community. Our Victim Services Volunteers offer support and resources to victims and survivors of this violent crime. Our youth programs are designed to educate youth on the consequences of impaired driving. We need to continue offering these services to help stop impaired driving and support families,” said Laura Garcia, MADD Central Okanagan President.
The funds raised will stay in the community. MADD Central Okanagan has also pledged to donate a portion raised to the Kelowna Professional Firefighters Association.
Live auction items include:
