Final COVID-19 update of week: 649 new cases, 13 deaths

British Columbia is ending the work week with 649 new cases of COVID-19, and 13 more deaths.

Three of the fatalities are in Interior Health (IH), same number as Vancouver Coastal and Northern Health, with two each in Fraser and Island Health for a provincial total of 2,109.

Active cases in IH were at 778, down 30 from Thursday. Provincially, there are 5,106 active cases, up 141 from the day before.

Interior Health had 88 new cases today.

Of the active cases in B.C., 365 people are currently in hospital (down by 12) and 143 are in intensive care (up by seven).

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. The outbreak at Cooper Place (Vancouver Coastal Health) has been declared over, for a total of 25 active outbreaks.

As of today, 89.4 per cent of eligible residents have had one vaccine, and 83.9 per cent are double vaccinated.

From Oct. 14–20, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 65.2 per cent of cases while fully vaccinated made up 34.8 per cent.

From Oct. 7–20, the unvaccinated comprised 77.0 per cent of hospitalizations, while fully vaccinated made up 23 per cent.
