Fatal highway crash near Penticton

The highway south of Penticton was closed for about five hours Saturday after a fatal crash.

RCMP say a 26-year-old woman died after her small Mazda car crossed the centre line while travelling northbound and collided with two oncoming vehicles.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RCMP’s preliminary investigation found the driver of the Mazda was travelling at a high rate of speed before crossing the double solid line.

The drivers and occupants of the other vehicles were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
