UPDATE: Spilled pallets block traffic on Highway 97

The clean-up continues on Highway 97 south of Vernon after a truck towing a trailer lost its load of pallets.
Southbound traffic was still stalled as of last update from Drive BC.
Detours are in effect on Commonage and Bailey Roads and Kalamalka Lakeview Drive.

UPDATE: 12:00 p.m.
The southbound lanes of Highway 97 remain blocked south of Coldstream after a truck lost it load of pallets near Birnie Road (the turnoff to landfill) this morning.
Drive BC says a detour is in effect using Kalamalka Lakeview Drive with traffic control in place.
Drivers can also take Commonage and Bailey Roads to get around the incident.
Motorists say RCMP are turning everyone around prior to the crash site.
RCMP say a pick-up truck towing a trailer loaded with pallets was travelling southbound on Highway 97 near Westridge Road when the trailer overturned, spilling the pallets across the southbound lane of the highway.
“No injuries were reported and police are continuing to investigate the collision,” said Constable Chris Terleski, media relations officer for Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
As of 12:15 p.m., Terleski said crews at the scene were working to clear the debris and were hoping to have one lane open soon.

11:15 a.m. Original story
Drive BC is reporting a vehicle incident on Highway 97 between Vernon and Lake Country.
The incident is about 3 km’s south of Coldstream between Birnie Road and Kalamalka Lakeview Drive in the southbound lanes.
Drive BC said the lanes are blocked in an update just before 11:00 a.m.
Reports indicate a truck lost its load of pallets.
An assessment in progress and drivers should expect delays.
