Numerous RCMP officers had their guns drawn in Kelowna this morning after a report of a home invasion.

One witness said a man entered three homes in the 800 block of Harvey Avenue (Highway 97) while brandishing a shotgun in what may have been drug-related.

Police say they responded to a home invasion at a residence at 5:08 this morning.

“Frontline officers from the Kelowna RCMP, along with the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team established a perimeter around the residence and asked the public to avoid the area. There is no threat to the public at this time,” said Cpl. Tammy Lobb.

Heavily-armed Mounties including snipers, surrounded a home and demanded the suspects exit and surrender.

Our affiliate, Kelowna10, said one man walked down a driveway and was placed in a police vehicle and officers entered the home and removed another person.

Harvey Avenue at Richter and Ethel Street reopened just after 9:00 a.m.
