Man involved in traffic accident found after search in Lake Country

Dec 2, 2021 | 11:50 AM Liam Verster

A person involved in a traffic accident who had walked away from the scene was discovered at their Lake Country residence.

The man had been driving on Glenmore Rd. late Wednesday night when he lost control and the vehicle flipped into an orchard.

The man managed to get out of the vehicle, and had walked away from the scene before the Lake Country RCMP and fire departments could arrive on the scene.

Police and fire crews searched the immediate area but could not locate the driver, and Central Okanagan Search and Rescue was called in just before midnight to assist with the search.

Eleven COSAR members, including the dog team, arrived on the scene to search the orchards and fields. The dogs were able to pick up the man’s scent, which led to his residence where he was located.

This was COSAR’s 98th call for service this year.

Vernon Matters has requested the RCMP provide more information relating to the cause of the crash and are currently awaiting a response.
