Winds gusts of 80 km/h blowing into Okanagan

Dec 10, 2021 | 12:45 PM Liam Verster

The Okanagan Valley will be buffeted by strong winds over the next 24 hours.

Environment Canada warns of a strong southerly wind accompanied by a sharp cold front moving into the region, which could lead to winds gusting up to 80 kilometres per hour.

The system is expected to hit the Okanagan Valley Friday evening and last through to mid-day Saturday.

The strong winds may blow snow around, reducing visibility and creating a driving hazard.

Travellers on all local highways are advised to be cautious, as the system will create strong cross winds.
