Interior records 200 COVID-19 cases over weekend
The Interior’s active COVID-19 case count was recorded at 529 Monday after 200 cases were confirmed over the weekend.
The cases were part of 1,129 reported throughout B.C. There were 415 identified on Saturday, 365 on Sunday and 349 confirmed on Monday.
The provincial active case count as of Monday was 2,949.
The province noted that 185 British Columbians were in hospital due to COVID-19 complications, 72 of whom were in intensive care.
There were also five deaths linked to the virus over the weekend, though none were located in the Interior. To date, 2,386 British Columbians have died due to COVID-19.
The provincial vaccination rate saw some gains Monday. The first dose rate for British Columbians over the age of five rose to 86.5 per cent while the second dose rate rose to 82.3 per cent.
Looking at the 12 and over age group, 91.5 per cent of eligible recipients have gotten their first shot, 88.5 per cent have received their second dose, and 13 per cent have gotten three jabs.
There were no new health-care facility outbreaks announced Monday, though one in the Fraser Health region was declared over. A total of three facilities remain classified as active outbreaks, including the Ponderosa Lodge in the Interior.
