Kelowna fire crews were called to a boarded-up house on Leathead Road this afternoon.

The first report to 911 said there was smoke coming from the structure around 1:00 p.m.

“The first arriving crew gained entry of the vacant building and quickly doused the original fire,” said platoon captain Steve Roshinsky. “The fire did extend into the crawl space and adjacent wall.”

The captain said crews put out the remaining fire and continued to checked for extension by opening up the floor area, but no further extension was found.

The cause of the fire is suspicious, and RCMP also attended the scene.
