Interior Health records 270 new COVID-19 cases, one death
The active COVID-19 case count for the Interior rose to 2,250 Tuesday, as 270 new cases were confirmed in the region.
The new cases were part of 2,542 identified across British Columbia, bringing the provincial active case count to 27,106.
There were four COVID-19 deaths recorded in B.C. Tuesday, one of which was located in the Interior. To date, a total of 2,427 British Columbians, including 299 Interior residents, have died from the virus.
The Ministry of Health also noted that COVID-19 hospitalizations rose to 298 Tuesday, and that 86 of those patients were in intensive care.
British Columbia’s vaccination rates for residents aged five and over rose to 88.3 per cent for first doses and 83 per cent for second jabs Tuesday.
The Ministry of health notes the vaccination rates for British Columbians aged 12 and over was 92 per cent for first doses, 89.2 per cent for second jabs, and 20.7 per cent for third or booster shots.
Looking at just B.C.’s adult population, the vaccination rates as of Tuesday were 92.4 per cent for first doses, 89.7 per cent for second shots, and 22.2 per cent for third jabs or boosters.
Nine new health-care facilities were added to the province’s outbreak list Tuesday, including the Mount Cartier Court intermediate and extended care facility in Revelstoke. As of Tuesday there were 24 active outbreak sites in B.C., including Mount Cartier Court and the Ridgeview Lodge in Kamloops.
