Over 2,200 new COVID-19 cases in B.C.
Active COVID-19 cases continue to climb in British Columbia.
The province reported 2,239 new cases on Tuesday (up from the 2,106 on Monday), raising the active case number to 36,087 (up by 1,536). Of the active cases, 469 people are in hospital (increase of 38) and 97 in intensive care (increase of 2).
The new/active cases include:

* Total active cases: 4,295 (up by 193)
* 807 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 15,988
* 383 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 10,334
* 318 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 4,295
* 167 new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 1,136
* 562 new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 4,330
* two new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: four
Since Monday, three new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 2,449, with one each in Interior, Northern and Fraser Health.
There have been four new health-care facility outbreaks at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Glenwood Seniors Community (Fraser Health), Saanich Peninsula Hospital – Long Term Care, and Oyster Harbour (Island Health). The outbreaks at Mission Memorial Hospital and Hawthorne Lodge (Fraser Health) have been declared over, for a total of 45 facilities with ongoing outbreaks.
As of today, 88.8 per cent of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 83.2 per cent have had two doses, and 26.8 per cent of people 12 and older have received a third dose.
From Jan. 3-9, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 19.4 per cent of cases. From Dec. 27 to Jan. 9, they accounted for 35.6 per cent of hospitalizations.
