A suspicious death in downtown Vernon is now being investigated as a homicide.

A person’s body was found in the 3300 block of 32nd Avenue near the Salvation Army House of Hope around 2:00 a.m. on Jan. 5.

“The person was determined to have been deceased prior to the arrival of first responders and an initial assessment of the victim’s injuries indicated the death to be suspicious,” said RCMP Constable Chris Terleski, media relations officer.

Terleski said the findings of an autopsy confirmed the person’s death to be the result of homicide.
