UPDATE: Local wineries supported in new Vernon event

Some of the wineries that will part of a new Vernon event have been uncorked.

Dahl Group Events and Wings Vernon have announced The Vernon Wine Show, A Wine & Culinary Caper Afternoon will feature the Meyer Family Vineyard, Mayhem Wines, Peak Cellars Winery, Play Estate Winery and Waterside Wine.

The event on Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Wings Vernon event room will include wine tastings, culinary treats and presentations.

People working in the hospitality industry get $10 off the price of admission with proof of employment.

New event coming for Vernon wine lovers

Organizers of a new event in Vernon say it’s about people getting out and having some fun.

Wings Vernon, along with Dahl Group Events, is presenting the Vernon Wine Show Saturday, Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“It is about time we all get out and have a bit of fun, for God’s sake,” said Leah Dickinson of The Dahl Group. “The Vernon Wine Show allows us to promote and taste Okanagan wines. Wine lovers are going to be all over this, and this will serve as an industry event for Okanagan hospitality professionals to come learn more about the wines in the region.’

The event will be held at the Wings Vernon Event Room which has room for 200 or more people.

Dickinson said they are planning to make it an annual event.

“You will need tickets to get in. In order for a winery to get in they need to apply to natasha@pretiumgroup.ca and be approved by the committee for the event.The list of great wineries is big.”

The number of wineries will be capped at ten.

Admission is $75, with an industry rate of $65 for people employed at a local eatery.
