B.C. COVID update: new local outbreaks, 19 more deaths
British Columbia had 4,075 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend with 1,182 of those in Interior Health.
The new provincial infections included 1,725 on Saturday, 1,293 on Sunday and 1,057 today.
Nineteen more people have died of the virus including eight in the Interior. The provincial death toll is now at 2,616.
The number of people in B.C. hospitals with COVID has gone up again to over one-thousand (1,048, an increase of 58 from Friday) with 138 in intensive care.
Noric House in Vernon, Monashee Mews in Lumby and Kelowna General Hospital are among eight new sites for health care facility outbreaks. An outbreak at the Hamlets in Vernon has been declared over.
The other new health-care facility outbreaks are at Dr. Andrew Pavilion, Poplar Ridge, McKinney Place, Glenmore Lodge, Summerland Senior’s Village (Interior Health).
The outbreaks at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Peace Arch Hospital, CareLife Fleetwood (Fraser Health), Sun Pointe Village, Mount St. Mary, Oyster Harbour and Parkwood Court (Island Health) have also been declared over, for a total of 58 facilities with ongoing outbreaks.
There are currently 27,454 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, down from the 30,515 on Friday.

* 447 new cases in Northern Health

* one new case of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: 15
As of today, 89.9 per cent of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 84 per cent have had two doses and 45.9 per cent of those 12 and older have had three shots.
