Interior records 131 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday

The Interior was home to 131 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, more than half of the 254 new cases reported across the province by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).

The date 60,842 cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Interior, and 351,141 have been confirmed across B.C.

The one death linked to the virus Tuesday came from the Fraser Health region. To date 2,915 British Columbians have died due to COVID-19.

The number of British Columbians in hospital due to COVID-19 fell to 419 Tuesday, down 30 from Monday, while the number of intensive care patients remained flat at 63.

In the Interior there were 90 patients in hospital with the virus, 11 of whom were in critical care.

As of Tuesday, the provincial vaccination rates fro british Columbians aged five and voer were recorded at 90.7 per cent for first doses and 86.5 per cent for second jabs. Additionally, 58.2 per cent of adults in B.C. have received a booster shot.
