Interior records one COVID-19 death, 115 new cases
Interior Health continues to lead the province in new COVID-19 infections.
The health authority reported 115 new cases Thursday, nearly twice as many as the 65 confirmed in Fraser Health, which had second highest figure in the province. The cases were part of 336 for all of B.C.
There were four deaths across the province Thursday, one in the Interior and three in Fraser Health. To date, 2,932 British Columbians have died with COVID-19, 362 of whom were from the Interior.
The province’s COVID hospitalizations fell Thursday to 388, down 17 from the day before. The number of patients in critical care decreased by six to 52.
As of Thursday, 90.7 per cent of eligible British Columbians age five and older had received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 86.6 per cent were double-dosed.
Additionally, 56.4 per cent of British Columbians aged 12 and over had received a booster shot.
The outbreaks at the Overlander Residential Care and Gillis House in the Interior were declared over Thursday. That left 14 health care facilities in B.C. with active outbreaks, five of which were located in the Interior.
