COVID-19 hospitalizations are slowly rising in B.C. with 288 today, up 28 from Friday, with concerns that we may see a new wave driven by the BA2 sub-variant, which appears to be happening in Quebec.

B.C. had 556 new cases over the weekend.

Breaking that down, there were 207 new cases on Saturday, 197 on Sunday and 152 today.

The new cases include:

* Interior Health: 144

* Fraser Health: 110

* Vancouver Coastal Health: 109

* Northern Health: 42

* Island Health: 151

The Health Ministry says there have been no new health-care facility outbreaks and one at Hillside Village nursing home in Salmon Arm has been declared over. That lowers the total number of health centre outbreaks to six across the province.

The ministry says 91.4 per cent of residents aged 12 and over have received their second shot of a vaccine, while 59.2 per cent have had a third dose.
