A staff member at Kelowna’s Gospel Mission is using his skills to help Ukrainian refugees in Europe.

Mike Morrison, the Mission’s development director, has been heading up a humanitarian medical team in Romania working with the refugees since March 19. He is supporting local non-government organizations to provide services such as mental health support as well as hygiene and shelter needs with Project HOPE.

Carmen Rempel, executive director of KGM, said they are thrilled at what Morrison is doing.

“Our mission is to feed, shelter and help those in need; this work with refugees fleeing war is in alignment with our Mission and values. It brings to light the global issues of the devastation of war and trauma, causing homelessness and poverty on a massive scale. We pray for peace,” Rempel stated.
