Kelowna RCMP were called to Rutland on Saturday morning after calls that two men had been assaulted in a home on Nickel Road. Police say there were multiple suspects who took off before they arrived, and bear spray was also used on the victims. A 33 year old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Beginning today and continuing until Sunday the 15th, Baron Road in Kelowna will be closed between Dilworth and Underhill. Crews are constructing two right-turn lanes, one from Dilworth northbound onto Baron and the other from Baron onto Dilworth. Work will happen seven days a week from 7am to 9pm. Detours and signage will be in place during construction.

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that BC Liberal leader Kevin Falcon would win a Vancouver byelection on the weekend so he could take a seat in the Legislature. Former party boss Andrew Wilkinson stepped aside to create the vacancy. One of the people Falcon was running against was the wife of Vancouver mayor Kennedy Stewart.

More big changes at the Shannon Lake-Bartley-Stevens intersection in West Kelowna. Starting today, the four-way stop procedure will end and the intersection will function as a roundabout. For the safety of crews working on site, future short-term closures of the intersection will be required for paving and concrete curing.

No more sticking decals on your licence plate. New rules for ICBC went into effect yesterday which mean when the current decal expires, you can take them all off or leave them all on. You can also do your renewal fully online now at renew.icbc.com and the corporation says it takes about 10 minutes.

A thief got away with a bunch of merchandise from a robbery at a convenience store in the 2000 block of Springfield just after midnight on Saturday. RCMP say he pepper-sprayed an employee and customer during the robbery. They were treated at the store by paramedics. Police were canvassing the area for video surveillance.

Bellevue Creek Elementary is one of 30 schools in BC to receive funding for a new accessible playground. The Central Okanagan school district will receive 165-thousand dollars for building the school’s new playground which will be designed, built and installed over the next year.

You may want to hold off on any trip to Quebec. The head of the Quebec bar owners’ association says some suds sellers could soon run dry because of an ongoing strike at a Molson Coors brewery. Other Quebec beer producers are likely to prioritize deliveries to Montreal and Quebec City, where bars are concentrated, rather than haul cases to remote areas.

It’s game 3 tonight of the Interior Division BC Hockey League final between the West Kelowna Warriors and Penticton Vees at Royal LePage Place. The Warriors have their work cut out for them as they lost by a combined score of 14-1 in 2 games in Penticton on the weekend.

The Toronto Blue Jays host the Yankees for 3 games starting later this afternoon. On the weekend at Rogers Centre, they were 2 and 1 against the Astros and are 2nd in the A-L East.

The season ended for the Kelowna Rockets on Friday with an overtime playoff loss in Seattle. The Canucks also lost their final game in overtime in Edmonton.

The Canucks have just a 0.5% chance of winning the NHL Draft lottery… and even if they did, they wouldn’t get to pick first. This season, a team can only move up a maximum of 10 selections, meaning the Canucks would jump from the No. 15 pick to the No. 5 with a win.

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is unsure of his status for next season due to his ongoing knee problem. The pride of Anahim Lake says he’s still dealing with a lot of swelling. He’s planning on getting another opinion on it during the offseason, and a second surgery isn’t off the table.

At the Mexico Open in Puerto Vallarta on the PGA tour, Jon Rahm led from start to finish, ending at 17 under par, on shot ahead of three other golfers. He pocketed 1.3 Million of the 7.3 Million dollar purse.
