UPDATE 1:05 p.m.: The special weather statement has been lifted for the Coquihalla Highway.

More snow is expected along the highway from Hope to Kelowna Friday morning.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement as two to five centimetres of snow is expected to fall on the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt and on the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna.

Snow is also expected on the highway from Merritt to Kamloops.

The snowfall is expected to continue until about noon Friday as a trough of low pressure moves across the Southern Interior mountain passes.

The weather agency says parts of the highway saw between two and 10 centimetres of snow accumulate on the highway overnight as well, with the highest amounts near the Coquihalla Summit and Kootenay Pass.

Motorists are warned that the roads may be slick and that occasional heavy snow may reduce visibility. Travellers are advised to slow down and drive to conditions.

People are also advised to check DriveBC for road conditions prior to getting behind the wheel.
