Search mission turns into a rescue
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue members were called out Tuesday to search for two guests who went missing from the Chute Lake Lodge near Naramata.
The mission was made more complex as one of the guests had injured herself.
Due to the difficult terrain and the nature of the injury, COSAR sent in a ground team of 12 members as well as a medical team in a helicopter.
After a short search, the subject was located by RCMP and transferred down to the lake.
“Because of the large amount of deadfall, it was decided to use a boat from Chute Lake Lodge to transport her to the western shore. She was then loaded into the helicopter and eventually transported to the BC Ambulance Service,” said search manager Duane Tresnich.
Tresnich is thanking John Graham Helicopters, Chute Lake Lodge and the RCMP for their help.
He also reminds outdoor enthusiasts to visit adventuresmart.ca and practice the three Ts: trip plan, training and taking the essentials.
The task was the 25th of the year for COSAR.
