RCMP investigating suspicious object in West Kelowna
Mounties are investigating a suspicious object located in West Kelowna this morning (May 26).
RCMP responded to a report of the object on the shoulder of Bartley Road at 8:27 a.m.
Officers attended the scene and the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit was called in to assist. As of time of publication, it was unknown when they will arrive on the scene.
Police say the impacted area of the road is near the less populated end where there are approximately 10 to 15 houses.
Cst. Mike Della-Paolera, media relations officer, said none of the residences have been evacuated, though officers have gone door-to-door to ask residents to refrain from coming and going until further investigation can be conducted.
Officers have also been turning motorists around in the area.
The RCMP say more information will be released when it becomes available.
