RCMP seek information on boat found on Wood Lake
Kelowna Regional RCMP is seeking information on an unoccupied boat found adrift on Wood Lake in Lake Country.
The Lake Country RCMP responded to a report of the boat adrift approximately 60 feet from the north shore of Wood Lake at 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 25.
As the boat was unoccupied, the RCMP want to identify the owner, or the people who have used the boat, to ensure everyone is safe.
The blue fiber glass fishing boat is approximately 14 feet in length and has the words “Raichie Poo” printed on the rear left side. Two yellow and blue plastic paddles, and what Mounties say appeared to be the base of a child’s car seat, were located within the vessel.
The Lake Country Fire Department attended the scene and assisted police with a preliminary foot and water search at the north end of the lake, though the search did not yield any results.
“Although the preliminary night search of the area was reassuring, we want to account for all the boaters using this vessel,” stated Cpl. Tammy Lobb, media relations officer.
Anyone with details about the boat is asked to contact the RCMP at 250-768-2880 or to file an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477.
