Another hotel could be in the works for the area around the Kelowna airport.
Marriott would like to build a six-storey, 200 room hotel on Fleet Court and Kelowna Council will give it consideration.
Four Points by Sheraton and a Hampton Inn are already in that area.
“Due to high demand and low inventory of available rooms during peak times, the conversion of the subject properties from industrial to commercial is considered compatible and complementary to the existing land uses. The additional hotel capacity will help in facilitating tourism and economic development for the region,” said a report to council from the city’s development planning department.
The applicant for the official community plan change and rezoning is Argus Properties.
