Severe thunderstorm watch in effect across Okanagan

Jun 3, 2022 | 10:30 AM Liam Verster

The North, Central and South Okanagan have all been placed under a severe thunderstorm watch.

Environment Canada issued the advisory just before 10 a.m. today, warning that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may also bring heavy rain.

It was noted that heavy downpours can lead to flash floods and water pooling on the roads.

In addition to the rain, thunder and lightning, the weather agency stated that hail and strong wind gusts are also possible in the storm.

The forecast is calling for up to 25 millimetres of rain today and tonight.

Environment Canada warns that the weather could pose a risk to people, and advises people to stay inside if possible.
