War medals returned to rightful owner

Kelowna RCMP have returned stolen medals and documents to their rightful owner.

Corporal Amadeo Vecchio returned the WW1 Canadian Discharge Certificate and WW2 Canadian war medals to Michael Wintermute on June 15.

The items were stolen from a residence in the fall of 2021, and the RCMP recovered them on Jan. 7 after they were found in possession of a Kelowna man who was confirmed not to be the rightful owner.

Tips and information from the public helped investigators identify the rightful owner and return the items to him.
