RCMP investigating fatal crash on Highway 97

Kelowna RCMP are investigating a fatal collision on Highway 97 Thursday.

The incident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck reportedly occurred at the intersection of Old Vernon Rd. north of the Kelowna International Airport at approximately 3:55 p.m.

As of time of publication the northbound lanes of the highway were closed at Airport Way, and traffic was being redirected around the scene.

Mounties were also asking people to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.

Motorists travelling north should also expect significant delays.

The RCMP is requesting any witnesses or anyone who has dashcam footage from the time of the collision to contact the Kelowna detachment at 250-762-3300.
