Once officers identified a home connected to the suspected gunshots, they set up a presence and asked the public to keep clear. Nearby residents were told to shelter in place.
In a news release issued Thursday (July 21) morning, Kamloops RCMP Inspector Jeff Pelley said the Yew Street standoff comes on the heels of a shooting in Dallas the night prior, although the incidents are not currently believed to be related.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
