The City of West Kelowna has made its election results official after an informal recount to confirm the sixth and final councillor position.

The recount was conducted due to just one vote separating Garrett Millsap (2,092 votes) and Tom Groat (2,091) on Oct. 15.

“Our priority is to demonstrate fairness and transparency in our election process,” said Corinne Boback, chief election officer. “We conducted an electronic and manual tally over the past two days to ensure accuracy of the ballots cast.”

Boback said the process confirmed Millsap as the successful candidate.

West Kelowna’s new council is:

  • Gord Milsom, Mayor
  • Stephen Johnston
  • Rick de Jong
  • Tasha Da Silva
  • Jason Friesen
  • Carol Zanon
  • Garrett Millsap

An Inauguration ceremony for the new council will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at The Cove Lakeside Resort and will be streamed live on the city’s website.
