Okanagan athlete inducted into Hall of Fame
One of Kelowna’s finest athletes is going into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame.
Kelsey Serwa, who blazed to glory in freestyle skiing, was among the 2023 inductees announced today.
Serwa represented Canada in ski cross at three Winter Olympics, winning gold in 2018 in Pyeongchang and silver in 2014 in Sochi.
Her grandfather, Cliff Serwa, was a co-founder of the Big White Ski Resort.
Serwa, who is now retired from the sport, will enter the hall along with other athletes like former Vancouver Canucks defenceman Dennis Kearns, former NFL punter/kicker Mitch Berger, tennis player Susan Butt, softball’s Mary-Anne Walz and wheelchair basketball ace Jaimie Borisoff.
Congratulations to Dennis Kearns for being inducted in the Athletes category! One of the top defencemen in @Canucks history, he played his entire 10-season @NHL career with Vancouver, appearing in 677 games, collecting 321 points, then a club-record for defencemen. pic.twitter.com/vEJuG2iXdn

The 2011-12 Penticton Vees, who posted a Canadian junior record 42 straight regular season victories, were among the team inductees.
This year's inductee in the Media category is @DanRussellST! During a 40-year career he pioneered modern ‘sports talk’ radio in BC as host Sportstalk, the longest-running sports talk show in BC history (1984-2014). He also served as Play-By-Play for @Canucks and @WHLGiants. pic.twitter.com/FoQ4d20Wgh
