Canadian Tire looks to move into former Costco site
After months of speculation, it appears Canadian Tire has plans to take over the former Costco location in Kelowna.
According to documents submitted to City Hall, the retail company intends to occupy the massive vacant building on the corner of highways 97 and 33.
Canadian Tire is currently located to the south along Leckie Road. And while the documents do not indicate if the current location will remain open, it’s unlikely two storefronts would operate that close to each other.
Schematics detail the new retail location to have 107,000 sq/ft of retail space, plus additional room for an e-commerce warehouse, service and garden centre.
The current Canadian Tire is just 89,000 sq/ft.
Planning documents do not show a gas bar at the new site.
There are no dates detailing when a move could take place.
Costco moved to its new 167,0000 sq/ft Baron Road location in February 2022.
