Vipers strike back to even series with Warriors

The B.C. Hockey League’s all-Okanagan series is down to a best of five affair.

The Vernon Vipers jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and held on for a 5-4 victory over the West Kelowna Warriors before a crowd of 1,072 at Royal LePage Place Saturday night.

The best of seven series is tied at 1-1 with games 3 and 4 in Vernon Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Richmond B.C. product Thomas Tien and Lee Parks from Stittsville, Ontario led the Vipers, each with two goals.

Ethan David made 24 saves for the win in net.

Christopher Duclair had a goal and two assists for West Kelowna who took game 1 on Friday 4-3.

Elsewhere in the Interior Division, Penticton doubled Trail 8-4 to take a 2-0 series lead, Wenatchee dropped Cranbrook 5-0 to tie that series at 1 and Salmon Arm made it two straight over Prince George with a 6-3 victory.
