There is still tons of snow but today is the last day of winter operation at Big White. The alpine snow base is still around 265 cm. After the lifts stop turning today, the resort will start to get ready for summer operations.

The TransCanada Highway will be closed from noon tomorrow until 11:59pm on Saturday. All through traffic from Golden to Castle Junction will be routed via highways 93-S and 95, adding as much as 90 minutes of travel time. It is also closed until 2pm today through Glacier National Park for avalanche control activities.

It’s now up to your doctor’s office or local hospital whether you have to wear a mask when you go inside. The provincial Health Officer says universal mask-wearing by all staff and visitors in health-care facilities is no longer mandatory. There will still be some situations where masks will be required in health-care settings or situations to protect high-risk patients against respiratory-transmitted infections.

A ticket bought in Kelowna has won $5 Million in the Saturday, LOTTO 6/49 draw. The BC Lottery Corporation did not reveal where the ticket was bought. The winning numbers are 8, 13, 16, 27, 31, and 46.

The housing market slump in the central Okanagan continued last month with sales down 34 percent from a year ago. The benchmark price for a single family home was up from February at just over 1 million dollars in March, but that was still down 14 percent from a year ago. Condo sales were down 35% with the benchmark price down 12 percent from March 2022 at $492,000.

One person got burns to their hands in a fire early Saturday morning on the 15th floor of an apartment building in the 1000 block of Sunset Drive in Kelowna. The fire was held to the bedroom with smoke damage to the unit. The sprinkler system had contained the fire but caused extensive water damage to a number of floors.

Interior Health issued a drug alert for Kelowna late last week. A light blue powder being sold as down, dope and fentanyl contains a 60% concentration of fentanyl. The alert says an overdose from it may not respond to naloxone and could be fatal and smoking it is not safer than injecting.

Just in time for tax season, Canada Revenue Agency employees could be set to go on strike. Workers at CRA have been without a contract for more than a year while the cost of living has continued to soar. A final round of negotiations has been set for next week while members are in a legal strike position on Friday.

World Wrestling Entertainment says as soon as it learned that an image from the Auschwitz concentration camp was used to promote one of its wrestling matches, the photo was removed. It was used in a promotional package for the match on a preview show on April 1st. The Auschwitz Memorial museum tweeted that using the image “is hard to call an editing mistake.”

BC Hockey League playoffs in Vernon last night, the Vipers eliminated the West Kelowna Warriors from the BCHL playoffs with a 3-0 win to take the best of seven, 4 games to 2.

The Vancouver Canucks wrap up their season on the road this week. Tonight they are in Los Angeles for a 7:30 face off against the Kings.

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a one-year contract with receiver Odell Beckham Jr. He signed to a one-year deal worth up to $18 million.
