Kelowna residents can now provide input on three unique neighbourhood concepts for the North End being presented in the latest phase of the planning process. The old Tolko site is being remediated and the plan will guide growth and redevelopment in the area over the next 20 years and beyond. Details are at getinvolved.kelowna.ca .

The BC NDP out-fundraised BC United in the last quarter. The New Democrats took in just over a Million dollars while BC United had donations of just over $768,000. The Greens took in just under $300,000 while the Conservative party banked 65-grand.

The Great British Beer Festival is back with about 30 bars serving up more than 700 different craft beers in London. There’s also an “I Could Murder a Beer” talk that is billed as a fun look at five fictional sleuths from different parts of Britain, and discussion about what they might be drinking if they were real.

The fishing boat that sank over a week ago has been recovered from Okanagan Lake. However, WorkSafe BC said it wouldn’t be providing any specifics relating to the recovery, such as the cause of the sinking, or if the captain’s body was on board. It overturned in the lake near Ellison Park during the late-night storm on July 24.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau are separating after 18 years of marriage. The PMO released a statement that the couple have signed a separation agreement but added Canadians can expect to still see the family together and that they will vacation together next week.

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that it was warmer than usual last month, but by just 1 degree. In Kelowna, the mean temperature, which are the daily highs and lows added together and divided by 2, was 22.7 degrees. Rainfall was much lower than normal at 8.6 millimetres versus the average of 37.2.

Nova Scotia RCMP believe they have recovered the body of a youth who went missing July 22 during a severe rain storm. Last week, searchers recovered the bodies of two six year old children and a 52 year old man who was travelling with the youth who had been missing. The storm dumped up to 250 millimetres or about 10 inches of rain.

US law enforcement agents served a federal grand jury subpoena to WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon. WWE said that while government investigations into McMahon remain ongoing, no charges have been brought. The Wall Street Journal had reported last year that the WWE was investigating an alleged $3 million payment McMahon made to a departing female employee following a consensual affair.

At Elks Stadium last night the Kelowna Falcons took a 10-0 win over the Kamloops NorthPaws. They will play again tonight at 6:35.

The Blue Jays are now 1 & 2 in their 4 game homestand against Baltimore after a 4-1 win last night. And they did it in style, picking off a runner at 1st for the final out. They will play the final game today just after noon.

If you are keeping track, it’s week 9 in the CFL and it begins with a contest between the first and second place teams in the West as the BC Lions are in Winnipeg to take on the Blue Bombers. Kickoff is at 5:30

The NFL exhibition season gets underway tonight in Canton, Ohio with the Hall of Fame game. The New York Jets, without Aaron Rodgers play the Cleveland Browns.
