Vernon couple overcome with emotions after scratch and win surprise

Imagine winning $100,000 on a scratch and win ticket.

That was the joyous situation for a Vernon couple who won that prize after scratching a Peppermint Payout scratch and win game.

Montana Lowley and Jason Campeau say they were overcome with emotions including disbelief, shock, excitement and relief.

“I checked it on the self-checker and was in total shock,” Lowley said. “I didn’t know what to say or feel. I think I started crying.”

The pair bought their ticket from the 7-Eleven on 32nd Street in Vernon and were at home when they discovered they won before walking back to the store to verify the ticket.

Campeau called their good luck “pretty amazing.”

“It’s a life-changing experience. Unbelievable, shocking, exciting and relieving all at the same time,” he remarked.

The Vernon couple plans to put the prize towards a first-time home purchase and look forward to saving for the future.
