If you are looking to get either a covid or flu shot this fall and haven’t received an invitation yet, there is still time for that. Interior Health says you can sign up on the Get Vaccinated BC website and then you should receive an invitation by either text or email. The recently updated covid vaccine can be received 6 months after the last one.

Rogers says it will lock out nearly 300 former Shaw technicians today after contract talks broke down. The workers are in Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey and Langley, and rejected a deal from the company. Rogers describes the move as a reluctant step to ensure the company can continue to provide service for its customers without interruption.

Israel rejected a U-S push for a pause in fighting with Hamas as warplanes hit a Gaza refugee camp. Gaza health officials say at least 40 people were killed and dozens of others injured at the camp. It is located in the evacuation zone where Israel’s military has been urging Palestinian civilians to seek refuge as it focuses its military offensive in the north.

Home sales were down for the most part in the Central Okanagan last month compared to a year ago. Single-family units dropped 12% while condos were down 19%. Prices were little changed staying at just over 1 million dollars for a single family home and 517,000 for a condo.

The federal government has summoned Air Canada to Ottawa to address issues with its handling of passengers with disabilities. This comes after multiple incidents that made headlines recently. One of those involved a BC man with spastic cerebral palsy, who said he was forced to drag himself off an Air Canada flight in Las Vegas because the airline’s third-party ground assistance personnel were not available to help him.

Mark Zuckerberg’s latest martial arts sparring session sent him to the operating table. The Meta CEO, who is a mixed martial arts enthusiast says he tore a ligament in his knee, while training for a fight early next year. A photo he posted on Instagram shows him in a hospital bed with his left knee elevated, bandaged and fitted with a brace.

The premiers are in Halifax for the Council of the Federation meetings. David Eby said BC’s priorities include working with other provinces and territories to “make sure that we’re not cannibalizing each other’s staff” and to co-ordinate training and hiring of medical staff. Priorities also include housing, which plays into the province’s cost-of-living challenges.

Police say 58-year-old Randall Hopley failed to return to his halfway house in Vancouver. He was supposed to begin a two-day trial today on two counts of breaching a supervision order.

Global Affairs Canada had previously told affected people they may be able to leave as early as yesterday. But increased attacks from Israel halted the trickle of foreigners allowed to use the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

The 8-2-1 Vancouver Canucks are back on the ice tonight as the 2-7-1 Edmonton Oilers visit Rogers Arena. Face off is at 7.

The divisional finals are set in the CFL. Winnipeg will host BC in the west final, and in the east, Toronto will host Montreal. Both games are Saturday.

Monday Night Football is at MetLife Stadium as the 4 and 3 New York Jets host the 3 and 4 Los Angeles Chargers at 5:15.

Right hander Marcus Stroman opted out of the final year of his contract with the Chicago Cubs. The 32-year-old leaves $21 million on the table.
