RCMP were able to apprehend a break and enter suspect shortly after a crime was committed
On Thursday, Dec. 21 at 4:22 a.m., Kelowna RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a business located in the 400 block of Bernard Avenue in the downtown.
“Surveillance cameras captured two suspects involved, including one male breaking the glass and reaching into the store to grab items before fleeing on foot. Multiple police officers responded, locating the male who matched the description captured on surveillance,” Const. Mike Della-Paolera said.
The officer said the suspect was arrested for break and enter and was found still carrying a stolen item with store tags and security labels from the same business. The man was taken to the RCMP detachment where he was processed before being released on an undertaking to appear in court March 25, 2024.
“As a result of this quick response by our frontline RCMP officers, this suspect was promptly arrested and the store’s property was returned,” Della-Paolera, media relations officer , said.
The investigation is still ongoing and Kelowna RCMP are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or that has dash camera recordings, to contact the detachment at (250) 762-3300 and reference file 2023-74729.
